Speaking – Language

 

1- Read the text in the bubble and talk.

 

 

2- Look, read and talk.

Does language change personalities? Explain.

Would it be difficult to learn another language? Explain.

Is body language universal?

Do you have a favourite language? Why?


 

 What advantages does your language have? Explain.

What are the good and bad things about your language?

What is your least favourite language? Explain.

Why are there so many different languages around the world? Explain.

What is the most confusing language in the world? Explain.


Where would you learn another language?

Is it easy to communicate with people who don’t speak the same language? Explain.

Would you have a penfriend? Why? Why not?

Is it good to study foreign languages as early as possible, or to start later?

penfriend = a person (such as someone in a foreign country)

someone exchanges letters with them even though they have never met.


What are the advantages of speaking more than one language job?

Why is it important to know the language before going to another country?

What would you do if you went to another country and didn’t know the language? Explain.

What would you do if you were multilingual? Explain.

What do you need to improve your foreign language skills?

3- Click on the pictures – they will take you to some LANGUAGE phrases idioms or vocabulary.

  • Check out the new phrases and lexis you can use.
  • Take notes on phrases or words you don’t know or don’t remember.
  • Choose your favourite phrases/idioms and think about when you can use them.
  • Share with the class.

                          

 

4- Watch the video and take notes.

  • Do you know any of these words?

 

5- Look and talk.

  • According to the pictures, discuss the following questions:
    • What would you do to make a pen pal friend?
    • What would you ask him/her?
    • Would you meet him/her? Why? Why not?
    • Where can you make foreign friends?

6- Read and talk.

  • To sum up, is it easy to make an international friend?
  • You can have a pen pal friend, what information will you want to know about him/her? Could you be an outgoing person even if you didn’t know the person?

 

7- Watch the video and take notes.

  • Listen carefully and analyze the idioms, phrases, or phrasal verbs.
  • Listen and write some of them that you would use when speaking in a regular conversation.
  • Pause the video as needed.
  • Share with the class.

8- Look and think about LANGUAGE information.

  • What is a pen pal?
  • You will make a pen pal friend, what will you ask him/her?
  • How do you start a pen pal relationship?
  • Write some notes, how can you make a pen pal project where all your class will have a different pen pal? Complete the template.
