Chew the fat = To chat or gossip


What are the 3 best activities you do at home?

What kind of night marathon would you have with your family on Saturday? (Eg. movies marathon, boardgames marathon, reading marathon, etc). Explain.

Do you think funny activities help you to feel “as cool as a cucumber”? Explain.

Where do you think is the best place for having fun?

What activities would adults and kids do for fun together?

As cool as a cucumber = Very calm, composed, and untroubled by stress.


What is the relation between fun and media?

Do you think media is important for our daily routine? Why / Why not?

Modern media comes in many ways, such as books, magazines, newspapers, television, movies, video games, music, cell phones, software, and the Internet.

Why are all these formats relevant and important for our daily activities?

What would happen if the media disappeared?


What is social media?

What are the most famous social media companies?

Should kids join social media?

What is social media used for?


3- Click on the pictures – they will take you to some media and daily funny phrases or vocabulary.

  • Check out the new phrases and lexis you can use.
  • Take notes on phrases or words you don’t know or don’t remember.
  • Choose your favourite idioms and think about when you can use them.
  • Share with the class.

           

 

4- Watch the video and take notes on the vocabulary presented.

  • Do you know most of the words you saw and heard?

5- Look and talk.

  • According to the pictures, discuss the following questions:
    • How do social media help us to keep in touch with other people?
    • Have you ever made friends on social media?
    • How has media improved and helped us since the pandemic started?
    • What do you think about the next phrase “If it’s not fun, you are not doing it right”?

6- Read and talk.

  • To resume, why has media become important for all people around the world?
  • Is it necessary to plan an activity to have fun?

           

 

7- Watch the video and take notes.

  • Listen and write some words that you would use when speaking in a regular conversation.
  • Listen and write some phrases that you would use in an informal conversation.
  • Pause the video when you need to.
  • Share with the class.
