Speaking – People

 

1- Read the text in the bubble and talk.

“people” person = a person who enjoys or is particularly good at interacting with others

 

2- Look, read and talk.

What is the worst thing about people at work or school?

Why do people like/dislike each other? Explain.

What different kinds of “groups” of people do you know?

What are some people you know good at? Explain.

 


Do people ever confuse you with somebody else? Explain.

What kind of people would you choose to work with? Explain.

Are you interested in what people say about you?

What do people have to do when they are not comfortable with themselves?

Why do you think that people change their attitudes or behaviours when they are with friends, family, colleagues, etc.?


Are you an outgoing or a shy person? Why?

Do you like the way you are as a person?

What would you change? Explain.

What kind of people do you like to hang out with?

Are your friends similar to you or do they have different styles?

Why do you have a connection with them?


Without media, how could people interact with others? Explain.

 Is it easy or difficult to make friends? Why?

Have you changed your style and personality in the past five years? Explain.

Why do people change over the years?

Are changes good? Why do you think people have different personalities?


3- Click on the pictures – They will take you to some people phrases, idioms, or vocabulary.

  • Check out the new phrases and lexis you can use.
  • Take notes on phrases or words you don’t know or don’t remember.
  • Choose your favourite phrases/idioms and think about when you can use them.
  • Share with the class.

           

 

4- Watch the video and take notes.

  • Have you ever heard this lexis? Do you know any of these words?

5- Look and talk.

  • According to the pictures, discuss the following questions:
    • How do people create their own personality?
    • Is it difficult to create close friendships?
    • Why is it important to interact with different people?
    • What kind of people do you interact more frequently with?

6- Read and talk.

  • To sum up, would you like to be more introverted/extroverted? Why?
  • How do you make friends?

 

7- Watch the video and take notes.

  • Listen carefully and focus on the idioms, phrases, or phrasal verbs.
  • Listen and write some of them that you could use in a regular conversation.
  • Pause the video as many times as you need.
  • Share with your class.

  • If you were new in a place and you wanted to make new friends, what would you do? Explain.
  • If you were a shy person, what would be the best way to make friends?
  • How can people help each other to interact if they are shy?
  • What situations would be the best to make friends? Explain.

  • What were the steps to make friends when you were a kid? Explain.
  • Give some examples of why people change friends.
  • What are the steps to get a new friend? Explain.
  • How would you know that you found someone you connect with?
  • What is the recommendation to turn a small conversation into a regular one?
  • What activities can be done in group settings?
  • What does “being a good friend” mean?
