British author, Joanne Rowling, is the woman behind the creation of the Harry Potter series of books; all aimed to children.
She has been recognized as one of the greatest and successful authors in history. Her books have sold over 400 million copies, they have been demanded for translation into 65 languages and some of her books, maybe all, have or will be made into movies.
Rowling was born on July 13, 1965, in Yate, England. Her sister, Dianne, was born when Joanne was 23 months old; she was born at their home. Peter and Anne Rowling were their parents.
Joanne wrote her first story at a very young age; six years old. It was about a rabbit who gets visited by all his friends when he got sick from measles.
Joanne graduated from Exeter university in 1987. She got a degree in French and Classics, which helped her a lot when she thought up the Harry Potter stories. She also took the challenge of teaching English in Portugal before she went back home to reunite with her daughter in Scotland and be near her sister again.
In 1990, Joanne was on a train traveling from Manchester to London when she came up with the idea of the Harry Potter spells, and once arriving in London, she began with the real writing, which would turn out to be a huge success.
Joanne married a young television journalist, Jorge Arantes, on October 16, 1992. Their daughter, Jessica Isabel Rowling Arantes, was born in Portugal on July 27, 1993.
The couple got separated on November 17, 1993. After divorce, in November 1994, Rowling and her daughter moved to Scotland. “I would always take my little girl on walks with the aim of helping her feel like sleeping.” Rowling usually shares with the press.
Joanne Rowling would end up working in local cafés in alliance with napkins and pens to get her drafts done!
The rest, it is all great history!!!
