Working at home or in the office?
Which is better?

By Serge V G

The rushing of getting work done may depend on many different factors, from motivation to getting well-paid. It all may pass without affecting people’s productivity and product quality. However, things like spending two to three hours getting ready and moving around before you can start your working day, and then, after a work shift, spending two more hours to get home may be the worst of the worst, and people even pay for it!!!

Can’t that much time be spent on doing the hobby activity people are lacking to keep balance in life or even to sleep more if they like?

First of all, working from home is good for me. People sometimes have the appreciation that I don’t do anything, but I do work, like a lot! It’s just that working from home helps me save time and money, and the best part, I think, is that I can do exercise, read more, take some courses and spend more time with people I love.

I can prove that being true every time I am called in the office for a meeting or to give a presentation of some sort, but I guess it is OK if I go there once or twice a month – work or any other activity wouldn’t get affected too much.

On the other hand, I must admit that, at the beginning, it was kind of confusing and hard to manage it responsibly. It was like letting everything be a distractor, welcome visitors or go to the convenience store whenever I felt like craving.

There was a point when I noticed I was getting behind duty on work, so I thought I had to do something and change the way I was managing my time; working from home is kind of a benefit and I got allowed to work like this due to the reliability I have always projected to the company I work for, and I love it, so if I wanted to keep my freedom and work any way I wanted, I had to keep getting the great results I had been getting.

It’s something like “Freedom comes along with responsibilities!” You know... you want to have the right, then do the right!
