When you feel sick as a dog, are you alive and kicking or is your mood the opposite?
Have you ever gone under the knife? Explain.
What do you do when your mom feels sick?
Where do you go when you are sick? Explain.
Have you ever spent a lot of money on a health situation? Explain.
sick as a dog = extremely ill
alive and kicking = in good health despite health problems
go under the knife = undergo surgery
Are you afraid of needles?
Are you a healthy person?
Do you need a healthy lifestyle change?
Do you eat healthy food?
Do you do exercise? What kind of exercise do you do?
needle = a very fine slender piece of metal with a point at one end
and a hole or eye for thread at the other, used in sewing.
Do you ever get headaches?
Do you go for regular medical check-ups?
Do you have any allergies?
Do you know anyone who suffers from backaches?
Do you go to the dentist’s twice a year?
Do you take vitamins or mineral supplements?
Do you think pets are good for a person’s health? Explain.
Have you ever been hospitalized? Explain.
3- Click on the pictures – They will take you to some phrases, idioms, and vocabulary talking about health.
- Check out the new phrases and lexis you can use.
- Take notes on phrases or words you don’t know or don’t remember.
- Choose your favourite phrases/idioms and think about when you can use them.
- Share with the class.
4- Watch the video and take notes.

- Are people in your country overweight?
- Is your country a healthy food country?
- Have you ever donated blood? Do you think it is a good or bad practice?
- Do you usually get enough sleep? Have you ever taken a sleeping pill to sleep better?
6- Read and talk.
- To summarize, do people in your country have a healthy lifestyle? Why? / Why not?
- If you were the Secretary of Health in your country, what would you do to improve health?
7- Watch the video and take notes.
- Listen carefully and analyze the idioms and phrases.
- Listen and write some of them that you would use when speaking in a regular conversation.
- Pause the video when you need to.
- Share with the class.
